Guns and Butter Banned and Removed from KPFA Radio

Dear Guns and Butter Supporters and Listeners,

Guns and Butter has been taken off the KPFA airwaves by the General Manager of the station.

I received on Wednesday, August 8th, before Guns and Butter would have aired on KPFA, the following email from the General Manager:
Bonnie,

KPFA will cease broadcasting “Guns and Butter” effective immediately.

We’ve received an avalanche of negative calls and emails from listeners about your uncritically airing of views by a holocaust denier, climate denial and casting the Parkland mass shooting survivors as crisis actors.  As steward of our airways, we can’t defend this content to our listeners.

Sincerely,

Quincy McCoy     Kevin Cartwright
General Manager  Program Director
This was followed by removal of the entire KPFA broadcast archives of Guns and Butter, down the memory hole.

KPFA defines itself as "Free Speech Radio" and this reaction is a form of censorship.  There was no discussion of these claims, nor any provision for due process or community involvement before these actions were taken.  If you are as taken aback as we are, as many of our listeners have already expressed to us by email, you can have your voice heard in this matter.

You can make in-person comments at the next KPFA Local Station Board Meeting this Saturday.

        In Person Comments:

        KPFA Local Station Board Meeting
        Saturday, August 18th, 11:00AM
        Town Hall Meeting, 1:00PM.
        Public comments will be taken.

Online Comments:Feel free to copy us on any emails (gunsandbutter@startmail.com) you send in and let us know if you attend the Local Station Board Meeting.

And please forward this to others you know who have the same concerns. With the recent move of censorship by many companies, it is more important than ever to make your voice heard.
Background
On July 24th, after registering unique premiums I had developed for the two-week KPFA Summer Fund Drive, I received an email from the pledge room informing me that Guns and Butter was pre-empted for the two-week fund drive.  The show had never been pre-empted during fund drives, no reason was given, nor any prior notice.

On July 18th I received one other message from the station - the General Manager forwarded to me two email complaints from listeners, the day Guns and Butter aired The Impact of Zionist Influence in the U.S., a presentation by Alan Sabrosky as part of a panel, Zionism – Deconstructing the Power Paradigm, from an online conference.  The GM wrote that he agreed with the criticism, that there was “nothing in the mission that agrees or allows unbalanced issue shows like this especially about a topic as sensitive as this.”

Response to Claims
“Holocaust Denial” Alan Sabrosky is a Jewish American war veteran and former Army War College Director at the Strategic Studies Institute. He did not claim that there was no persecution of Jewish people in fascist Germany.  The focus of his talk was on present and future perils, specifically war with Iran.  Airing his brief comments on WWII is apparently what has angered some people.  There could be an equivalent number of people who appreciated those comments but did not choose to send an email about them.

“Climate Denial”  (Whatever that means)  Programming on Guns and Butter has covered climate disruption, climate extremes, etc.  It has not flat out supported the theory that global warming is the future trend because there are other scientific phenomenon and influences on the climate that are being studied such as sun cycles, space weather and the weakening of the earth’s magnetosphere, among other factors, that should be considered.

“Crisis Actors” No one on the show claimed that Parkland student shooting survivors were crisis actors.  What was pointed out was that it was suspicious that the student activist whose political narrative was picked up by the media was not even at the school during the shooting, but showed up right afterward.

About Guns and Butter
Guns and Butter is an educational program that provides a platform for opinions and analyses not heard in the mainstream media.  The program is not necessarily about what I think or believe, nor does it constitute an endorsement of every thing said by a guest, but an opportunity for thought and discussion by listeners interested in differing points of view.  In a time of extreme polarity in our country, open sharing of ideas is where we need to be.

Guns and Butter spearheaded deep analysis of the seminal event of the 21st Century – the crimes of September 11th that no other program on KPFA would deal with.  I also produced many hours of original economic and financial programming with Dr. Michael Hudson, Dr. Michel Chossudovsky, Dr. Webster Tarpley, to name a few.  You wouldn’t realize it now, but there wasn’t any other financial/economic programming on the station at the time.  The geopolitical coverage on Guns and Butter has also been superb.  The show has produced outstanding programming on a wide variety of complex and difficult subjects.

Guns and Butter was created by me and a fellow volunteer reporter in the KPFA Newsroom in 2001.  It was approved for broadcast by a democratic vote of the KPFA Program Council that included community members.  The program is fully edited and mixed for broadcast, and is a more than full-time stressful job to produce.  It has aired for 17 years and has raised multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars for the station, which reflects very strong listener support.  I have never received any support from the station.

An unprecedented attack on the 1st Amendment right of free speech is taking place generally.  Alternative media on the Internet is being removed, not just from social media platforms, but websites themselves have come under denial of service attack.  Youtube has for some time been eliminating channels.  I have just learned that Word Press is taking down websites.  Computer algorithms are clamping down on search engines for alternative news and has adversely affected many popular sites, including Global Research.

It seems that differing viewpoints are no longer allowed on KPFA's airwaves and that listeners’ feelings are purportedly being protected by station management when it is information, facts and data that should given the highest precedence by management, not opinions.  It is always uncomfortable hearing something that one finds offensive or that threatens to break one out of one's bubble, but it is an individual's responsibility not the station’s to take care of one’s own feelings.  And rather than management deciding what listeners should or should not hear because of managements’ own personal biases or pressure from special interest groups, listeners’ ability to think for themselves and make up their own minds should be respected and not be subject to censorship of ideas and unknown research from either the Right or the Left, especially when it comes to KPFA which should be guided by the Pacifica mission that includes the following:

To establish a Foundation organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes. ………In radio broadcasting operations to engage in any activity that shall contribute to a lasting understanding between nations and between the individuals of all nations, races, creeds and colors; to gather and disseminate information on the causes of conflict between any and all of such groups; and through any and all means compatible with the purposes of this corporation to promote the study of political and economic problems and of the causes of religious, philosophical and racial antagonisms.

Guns and Butter is broadcast on WBAI in New York City every Wednesday at 9AM and is carried on many Pacifica Affiliates and will continue to be archived here on the Guns and Butter website.

We need your financial help to sustain our programming, most especially during this extremely difficult time of alternative media censorship, and we thank you for your support.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up for monthly sustainable contributions, and to those of you who have made one-time donations.  We cannot express enough our gratitude.  As always, your donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.  Guns and Butter is a project of Inquiring Systems, a registered 501(c)(3) that has been providing non-profit status to socially responsible organizations since 1978.

Tell me please this isn't so. After reading the reasons why KPFA Management has removed this show, it doesn't make sense. What sources really got to this station? Isn't this amazing show about exhibiting freedom of speech and opinion? More than all that, Bonnie's interviewing often included cutting edge thinkers, backed by research and investigative journalism. This show has opened up my thinking in so many ways, more so than any other source, especially in the age of not trusting main media news. Who was getting threatened by what was being broadcast? Who at the station ALLOWED those who complained (and who knows who those sources really are) to sacrifice the BEST show in their lineup? I will cease donating until Bonnie is allowed to return in full force.

Zionist world dictatorship types want to keep the 6 million number sacrosanct...if it was 300,000, as some suggest... horrible... one killed is too many... but the excusers. like the dramatic number 6 million... the likud; mossad; idf are acting just like the nazis toward the palestinians...it is said roth schild is the original funding source fr new israel..what a horror that became..remember rachel corrie, bulldozed

Oh, Bonnie, this makes me heartsick, and I'll definitely write a comment to the station manager. I've always appreciated your courage in choosing topics that no one else is covering and the professionalism with which you prepare for and conduct your interviews. Like Kathy A., I've learned a lot from "Guns and Butter" broadcasts; and I've been introduced, through them, to thinkers like Michel Chossudovsky whom I now follow separately. I desperately hope that WBAI and other Pacifica affiliates will continue to stand with you in broadcasting perspectives that are available nowhere else.

Jane Allen Clark - August 17th, 2018 at 7:30am

Sounds like management got a call from a group of Jewish activists that have done the same thing in other parts of the country to stop people from hearing points of view, and think it is their duty to crush any criticism of Israeli or Jewish actions. Most likely there is a source of monetary support for the station that is being threatened and that is not something management would even tell you. Unfortunate but sounds like KPFA Management has no backbone and no courage. It also sounds like they did not do their homework before making a decision to cut your programming. Short sighted people to me and your show was the only one I listened to on their programming, and now I will not even bother.

J. Michael Springmann - August 17th, 2018 at 8:05am

You can't criticize apartheid-loving Zio-Nazis or question the carefully-constructed story about the Parkland shooting--or how kids with great media savvy suddenly appear, demanding the end of the 2nd Amendment.. Obviously, the Bill of Rights is divisible. Now the 1st Amendment is under attack. But, that depends on your political viewpoint. Some animals are more equal than others. Bill Gibbons - August 17th, 2018 at 8:07am

This is what I wrote on the IndyBay site: Bonnie Faulkner the real Jewel of Pacifica not Amy Goodman Bonnie Faulkner was treated poorly by KPFA, she wasn't paid for producing a startlingly impressive, deep journalistic show, KPFA even screwed her out of hundreds of dollars over a minor issue about gifts for pledge drives, but she kept plugging a way doing some of the best journalism KPFA has ever presented for free. Amy Goodman is fawned over and she has deliberately lied to support her funder George Soros. Bonnie Faulkner is Pacifica's real jewel, she doesn't mis-represent the facts to comfort billionaires and she's not acquired millions of dollars in the process. Recently Christopher Bollyn has written books exposing Israeli's role in the 911 attacks which murdered 3,000 Americans in 2001. The left movement world is now reacting in waves to Bollyn's work. Bonnie Faulkner was the only journalist on KPFA to expose the Jewish role in 911, this included Benjamin Netenahyu's commanding role, the role of the state of Israel, Israeli Army Intelligence, and the role of dual US-Israeli Jewish citizens in America in the attack. Israel had help in the attack from the Bush White House and US media, the world media including Amy Goodman and Noam Chomsky has deliberately run cover for the conspirators. 911 is a seminal world event and its still important because Muslims have been blamed and now millions of Muslims are being slaughtered in US-Israeli and NATO 911 wars. We can see Israel benefits from these wars attacking its neighbors and expanding it's influence. Bonnie Faulkner is also the only Pacifica journalist besides Cynthia McKinney to question the role of Jewish power in the control of Congress. These important truths are what really got Bonnie Faulkner fired and this fact is unacceptable to KPFA listeners. What kind of journalism will KPFA have left in a post 'Guns and Butter' situation besides 'Flashpoints'? The Silicon Valley media is already clamping down on alternative journalism, now we won't even have Bonnie to expose the crimes of empire. --Bill Gibbons, Petaluma CA, former Project Censored Contributor and volunteer, Supporter of the Revolutionary Communist Party.

Tim Riley - August 17th, 2018 at 8:33am

Since when did expressing different points of view or questioning the official narrative become a reason to shut down the discussion. The KPFA GM and PM have lost their way. Speaking out and airing differing views takes too much courage in these Orwellian times. KPFA is one of the last great public forums free enough to investigate taboo subjects, which are ridiculed, silenced, or protected by blustery outrage elsewhere. KPFA needs to weather the storm and broadcast brave analysis and supposition that will sometimes include speculation beyond what can be proven or backed by popular belief. KPFA fell short of their fund drive goals and pulling their best content from air will make that problem even bigger. I greatly value and appreciate Bonnie Faulkner's work. The public desperately needs to hear popular assumptions challenged. I will appeal to the station board to ask for their intervention on behalf of brave programming that serves us all with a fearless perspectives.

Cheryl Meeker - August 17th, 2018 at 8:45am

I can't believe KPFA would ban Guns and Butter, probably my favorite program on the station, only ahead of Rising Up, Against the Grain, CounterSpin, Flash Points, and UpFront. Guns and Butter is the bravest and challenging show on KPFA. It is outrageous that the station would bend to outside forces without a debate and consultation with the listenership. Why can't the programs be archived, so that we may listen to the "objectionable" material -- so we can make our own minds up about what was aired? To address just one of the concerns, I am a climate justice activist who understands that the science shows that we will have significant warming into the future and think it should be perhaps our biggest public concern, yet, why would I not want to consider other scientific phenomenon that affect climate? Even if I do not agree with the viewpoint promulgated by the program on that subject, that doesn't mean I don't want to continue to consider views that don't mirror my own. In fact, I think it essential that we consider other information that may not support our own views. After all, this kind of information silo-ing is a huge problem in the age of vast media privatization. Return Guns and Butter to the airwaves!

Joan Moore - August 17th, 2018 at 8:49am

I am outraged that KPFA Management would stop broadcasting Guns and Butter. It is one too many disappointments with this station over the last year or so, and my husband and I have abandoned our plans to leave a legacy to the station. I have also cut back on my support in general and don't listen like I always used to do. But I always tried to catch Guns and Butter. Now, with that gone, I have even less interest in the station.

Elizabeth Sempadian - August 17th, 2018 at 9:24am

As a decades long supporter it troubles me that KPFA would not permit other views to be presented on any issue being discussed. We do not have to agree, but to be deprived of a program that presents other than the usual is a loss for us and will be a loss for the station. Expected better from KPFA, which could let it stand and merely add that it does not represent its view. What about a vote from listeners to determine what they wish to hear.

Amy Harlib - August 17th, 2018 at 10:02am

This attack on free speech and freedom of the press is so horrifying. I'm glad WBAI is still airing your show. It is so vital that there is always somewhere to go to get 'real news' and real thought provoking ideas.

james hammond - August 17th, 2018 at 10:19am

bonnie you are joan d'arc for truth and we are not going to let you be burned by these thugs: i did not hear the show, but i know your track record for it is my all-time fave show on radio or TV and i respect your efforts more than anybody. i'll be there saturday to scream out my objections...as you join the exodus of independent voices of american media along with the outcast aimee allison and i'm sure others....but one is too much. these thugs are cia clones and ought to be fired. we need to elect a new manager and remind her, i sy HER and i know we had one who was a traitor to the cause so we cannot trust anyone in power. power corrupts the best of us. we are the people, tho' and we shall rise for truth on our radio station.

Gwen Winter - August 17th, 2018 at 11:52am

I'm in agreement of all that's been said in favor of Guns And Butter, with one exception:. Please folks, don't say "Jewish" when you're speaking collectively, say "Zionist.". We Jewish are of many persuasions, many of us are atheists, agnostics. Some of us very religious. I used to be one that loved all our holiday celebrations, but don't participate much any more. But Zionsts, to me are murderers of Palistinians, and don't follow the religion they supposedly accept. I'd never accept the Zionists as Jews, they're closer to Nazis! And never forget Middle easterners, including Palistinians are SEMITES.

Nazreen Kadir - August 17th, 2018 at 12:49pm

The GM's decision must be reviewed at once by the KPFA listening community. The current trend of censorship 'at will' across social/mainstream/alternative media is disturbing. At a time when the drums of war against Iran are drowning out all voices, for example, it is more, not less, critical for KPFA programming to sound the anti-war bell loud and clear. Few programs do this better than Guns and Butter.

Kathryn Murray - August 17th, 2018 at 1:54pm

I am truly outraged. This is the only reason I listen to KPFA -- Guns & Butter is a phenomenal show unlike any other, offering information gleaned from sources about politics and what is truly going on in our country that you will not find elsewhere, unless you go digging and digging. Freedom of speech is disappearing in our Country, unfortunately and Guns & Butter is one of the ways to feel rest assured that you are hearing from ALL sides of an issue. Also, I don't see one comment that is anti-Guns & Butter here on the comment sections. Are we sure that the negativity experienced didn't come from from a plethora of hired workers from threatened sources of what has been broadcasting? Shame on the Management for caving in. I beg them to re-instate this amazing, needed and very informative broadcast. Bonnie is one of a kind.

Lee Jamison - August 17th, 2018 at 4:26pm

Time to call the ACLU

David F Palmer - August 17th, 2018 at 5:21pm

I'm truly shocked. I had never heard of KPFA until I heard of Guns and Butter (I live in Western Australia). I had the privilege of meeting Bonnie Falkner at the Justice in Focus 911 conference in New York in September 2016. Whither goest thou America? I fear for the future of your democracy (and ours). And since the entire Western World follows your lead, whither goest we?

Wanda Warkentin - August 17th, 2018 at 6:13pm

Hi Bonnie, I heard the news that the show had been cancelled and on Wednesday I showed up at 1:00 to protest. I thought there would be others, but I was the only one. I proceeded in a single person demonstration. and spoke to a number of people who agreed that this action exhibited a totalitarian, speech - and thought-controlling attitude. I realize that many had not yet heard the news. I definitely want them to know that you have a whole lot of support out here in radio land. Many people don't listen to KPFA (honestly it is the most boring yet dangerous elite communist propaganda I have ever heard) except for Guns and Butter. The statement made by the director Is meant to intimidate us from stating any view that disagrees. The way is is put, if you say you support Guns and Butter, you are automatically a "holocaust denier". Kind of like George Bush saying "you're either with us or against us". Thanks for all the great shows and may your show continue in some way or another. It is a tremendous loss to us if we can't hear the show anymore.

Elizabeth Shanklin - August 17th, 2018 at 6:33pm

I want to thank you, Bonnie, for the excellent education you have provided us.. I agree with Lee Jamison above. It's time to call the ACLU, and expose those behind this contempt for the truth and our well-being..

%u201CClimate Denial%u201D? NOT! %u201CCrisis Actors%u201D? NOT! %u201CHolocaust Denial%u201D? When Guns-n-Butter aired that two-part series, I said to myself, "No way G-n-B survives". Unfortunately, I was correct. Quincy McCoy and Kevin Cartwright drank the Kool-Aid, possibly via GTMO-style %u201Crectal rehydration.%u201D Apparently, the two-week Summer Fund Drive, was a significant disappointment. At least, KPFA's been whining and pleading about it ever sInce. KPFA will not miss my minuscule pledges, but the high-rollers who undoubtedly threatened to sequester their donations until G-n-B was terminated never came to the rescue.

David Taylor - August 17th, 2018 at 10:21pm

I can't imagine anything but a vast array of positive comments being made about any particular program that has been presented on Guns and Butter.

sky amory - August 18th, 2018 at 7:32am

I'll be at the KPFA board meeting. But I will not be addressing the board. Rather, I'll be entreating the audience to do an investigative report on how it is that the fox is guarding the hen house at KPFA. Is there a link, as I'm sure there is, as another major fox, Janet Appalling-nato, former 9/11 false flag purveyor of racism and deception Secretary Of Deutschland Insecurity watches over the UC hen house. Surely she has some influence in the censorship of Bonnie as KPFA's principal purveyor of truth and honesty regarding 9/11.

sky amory - August 18th, 2018 at 7:41am

To Moderator: I submitted a comment suggesting that some investigation will be petitioned on the KPFA's foxes watching the hen house, just as Janet Appalling-nato does UC. It appears that you've not admitted it. Was it too provocative? Could you please explain? Please email me, if you'd be so kind. Thank you.

sky amory - August 18th, 2018 at 7:49am

I suggest that the KPFA board be petitioned to return Bonnie to KPFA air waves. Bonnie and Co, could you please expedite such a petition to all emails associated with support for Guns And Butter? I will make that suggestion to the audience at today's meeting.

Gary Weglarz - August 18th, 2018 at 11:14am

The following comment was sent to all email addresses related to the station: To all concerned, Pacifica loses all credibility and respectability with this move to censor free speech. One can only assume it is being done in the name of some bizarre notion of "community standards." Would those be the same community standards that say defending the murder of a half of million Iraqi children is "worth it?" Or perhaps the community standards that allow the repetition of blatant lies in the name of fomenting war: "Iraqi incubator babies;" "Gaddafi's viagra fueled rape camps," "Iraq's weapons of mass destruction," etc. etc. As "steward of our airways" you have a responsibility to free speech, not to censorship. This is an act of both cowardice and total ethical corruption. I hope you soon develop the spine to reverse this inane move, and will join in efforts to resist censorship rather than promote it. Tom Russell - August 18th, 2018 at 6:49pm

I'll really miss Guns and Butter. It was hilarious. Listening to Bonnie listen credulously to some crank and saying "I see, tell me more" was a high point of my week. It never did much for KPFA's journalistic integrity, though. It's not censoring free speech or silencing alternative views, it's KPFA deciding they didn't want a bunch of hooey on their air. Climate science denial? Crisis actors? Really? 9/11 conspiracies where a plane never hit the Pentagon? I thought this was all stuff of Alex Jones and the far right. About some of these other comments: When you're saying that Amy Goodman and Noam Chomsky are running cover for the Deep State over 9/11 and Jewish/Zionist conspiracies, you're not quite in sync with reality. It's not "expressing different points of view" or "questioning the official narrative", it's spewing and believing absurdities, just because you want them to be true.

ROY J KENDALL - August 18th, 2018 at 8:20pm

I do not remember any KPFA coverage or comment on the UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA Building #7. 9-11 investigation or any mention of the proposed BOBBY MC ILLVAINE ACT. of course as a prisoner of platoe's cave this is not surprising. What was surprising and refreshing was the Bonnie F. interviews with Richard Gage and Christopher Bollyn. gone. no surprize. the emperor has no clothes. the zebra cannot change its stripes. what is needed is for everyone to consider looking at ae911truth.org. asap. thank you for the good shows....Bonnie will be missed and it was a big mistake to crucify her and burn her books.

Saturday Aug 11th, 2018 11:09 AM (Also, "sent to all email addresses related to the station.) "Spineless", indeed! (To have CANCELLED the "Guns and Butter" program.) Bonnie Faulkner's independent venture, "Guns and Butter", was never meant to please the complacent, head-in-the-sand, non-listener/non-thinker/non-independent, non-Questioner/ non-Researcher. And, if one or more took issue with one or more such presentations, why "blame the Messenger"? [Some text redacted - but not by "Management".] I have informed KPFA personnel that all "non-profits" under I.R. Code, Section 501 (as in 501(c)(3)), are under Regulations of the "DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY" and "STANDARDS OF CONDUCT" for U.S. government employees. (Treated, and thus "Taxed", as such!) Yet, never any response or Reply... They are "brain dead" in such respects; thus Cowards. I shall not listen, again. The listeners are hostage to such uninformed programmers. By contrast, I was a frequently invited Guest Speaker on KZFR-FM (Chico, California), on a program called "Freedom's Questions", on which we (the Radio Host and I) actually offered Answers on such matters as "State" and federal "Income Taxes", "Sales Tax", "Traffic", and the like. I shall explain to Bonnie about her "unalienable Rights", via the little-known, encoded Section 508(c) of the infernal Internal Re-venue "Code"; thus, lawfully circumventing the IRS spy system - "501(c)(3)'". John P. Garry III - August 19th, 2018 at 9:24am

Ms. Winter, you have to understand that the people who say "Jewish" instead of "Zionist" are doing it deliberately. These people are, in fact, anti-Zionist and anti-Jewish. They have chosen, through immaturity, opportunism, ignorance, or malice, to conflate Israeli government policy with Jewish identity itself. This is clear in Kevin Barrett's comments on "Guns and Butter." He sees malign "Jewish tribal power" operating in numerous fields. For instance, he holds (or has borrowed) the crazy idea that the history of Hollywood is the history of Catholics advocating for wholesome entertainment versus "sensualist" Jewish producers who want to make more explicit films. In fact Jewish and Gentile filmmakers have been ,on all sides of Hollywood's morality and content wars. Allen Sabrovsky, also on "Guns and Butter" makes an even more ignorant error: He conflates the Eastern European immigrant studio executives (some of whom were Jewish) with the radical leftists (some of whom were Jewish) who were active in Hollywood. The idea that arch-capitalists like Louis B. Mayer, Samuel Goldwyn and the other immigrant producers brought communism with them from Europe is absurd. The "communism equals Judaism" claim is one the standard tropes of extreme anti-Semitism. The inability to recognize or credit differences of opinion within a group is one of the standard procedures of racial and religious prejudice. That the producers of Guns and Butter couldn't recognize this is sad and disturbing.

Colleen McGuire - August 20th, 2018 at 1:02am

For shame that Pacifica is emulating the censorship tactics of Big Brother Big Tech Corporations with State backing, - YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.. Doesn't KPFA remember that Mario Savio's free speech movement started in Berkeley? To eliminate Guns & Butter's entire archive is tantamount to a digital book burning. Shameful.

Tom Koosis - August 20th, 2018 at 12:32pm

The deletion of G&B%u2019s archives is like trying to unwrite history. Why does KPFA management act so secretive and sleazy about what goes on inside the station? The station manager ought to have a weekly %u201CReport To The Listener%u201D with provision for phone-in comments and questions. Bonnie%u2019s program about Pacifica%u2019s financial situation is the only example that I%u2019m aware of of a responsible effort to keep KPFA%u2019s listeners informed on this important issue. Of course, with its removal from the archive, that information is no longer available via KPFA. Bring back free speech radio! BRING BACK BONNIE!

RE: Censoring of Bonnie Faulkner, Host of Guns and Butter First Submitted August 20, 2019, 2:05 AM Central Time What is obvious? It is obvious that KPFA is abiding the will of the moneyed interests, more specifically the Zionist s' interests and the Western corporate elite who want to control the resources of every country and go after the leaders of countries that refuses to place the Western moneyed interests above their People's interests. It is obvious that the most %u201Cpopular%u201D show on KPFA is %u201C FUNDRAISING.%u201D WHY it is that KPFA has lost the support of the masses? Could it have anything to do with the fact that KPFA has lost it sense of ethics? Lost its sense of direction? Lost it commitment to serve the masses? Could it be that KPFA has become the puppet of the moneyed interests (also known as Wall Street and corporate interests), the Zionists (esp. those who have turned Israel into essentially a US military base, but also one that is funded well enough by the US (over 3 billion $$$ a year) to destroy Palestine, control land that belongs to other countries such as Syria's Golan Heights, and to bargain with the Al Quada off-shoots and Saudi's who have murdered and maimed millions of Yemeni as they totally destroy the country. If anything, I wish Bonnie would have covered the US/ Zionist Israel connection more, not less. Please use your brain and see that I am NOT referring to all Jews here nor in Israel nor around the world. I am referring to the Zionists whose main focus is money, power, control--not the freedom to practice Judaism and certainly not the masses of the Jewish People. Bonnie Faulkner has been an icon of truth and reality programing. I do not agree with every single show but about 95%. I certainly respect her right to provide a range of diverse topics on her show. It should also be noted that Bonnie educates herself about the diverse topics of her guests. She never just "wings" it . Bonnie has been a strong mentor for me and for millions of others here and abroad who understand that the only way to stop wars is to recognize the false flag events. The moneyed interests (same ones it appears control KPFA) need these false flag events to induce the masses to abandon their common sense and believe that foreign groups or leaders of socialist oriented countries are a "threat " to the national security of the US. The US has used false flags to obtain "popular" support for most every minor and major war in which it has become involved. Bonnie's courage to cover the truth and lies of 9-11 with outstanding guests such as--- but certainly not limited to --- David Ray Griffin and Richard Gage should earn her a badge of courage. Instead, the KPFA management has shown that it cannot tolerate any diversity that gets down to reality and enlightens with the truth, which is often brutal. Truth is so often much harder to swallow than deception and lies. Truth and reality are seldom easy to swallow, esp. when the public is brainwashed by the mainstream/"progressive" media. It is obvious to any thinking/going to the root person, that Amy Goodman of Democracy/Hypocrisy Now has lost her way--by choice. She has walked away from "democracy" values and walked toward warmongering hypocrisy. DN/HN warmongering against Libya and Syria was/is disgusting and deadly. Goodman's absolute refusal to discuss the reality of 9-11 shows how tied she is to moneyed interest world that feeds on war. (Before I finally stopped about a year ago) watching the puppet Goodman, Inc. hypocrite, she had only two shows with 9-11 Truth experts. The same for Chomsky and other obviously fake "progressives." These are the moral idiots who allow wars to happen over and over and over. That is definitely NOT a role that Bonnie Faulkner played nor will ever play. I remember Bonnie getting some attack comments when she had John Whitehead on her show. Whitehead has been a Constitutional attorney for 40 plus years. After listening to her show with Whitehead, I purchased his book, Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State. Whitehead appears to be a Libertarian. I am not. I am a socialist leaning. Yet, ALL need to listen to the truth and reality that Whitehead presents. Truth most often does not come in one package--the "democrat" package, the "Republican" package, the "Libertarian" package, the "Socialist" package, etc. One must dig deeply in the diverse packages to be able to develop thinking that leads to action that leads to serving the People. Censoring Guns and Butter leads only to censoring thinking and hiding solutions that serve society. I hope that some other station or popular Internet show will offer Bonnie a spot on their show(s). Honestly, I think she is too good for the failing, continuous fundraising KPFA. However, should KPFA come to their senses and bring back Guns and Butter with no censorship strings attached, I imagine Bonnie would be kind enough and humane enough to accept the offer. Sincerely, Joan Malerich

It's obvious this KPFA Station Manager and Program Manager need to be shown the door, Not Bonnie Faulkner, if KPFA wants to have any Street Cred. What a predicatable farse; par for the course in our Orwellian Nightmare of The 4th Reich. The only Holocaust Deniers that matter, are the Deniers of the Holocaust Genocide of the Palestinian, Syrian, Lybian, YemanI People going on Right Now! (Justified on the Fake 9/11 Evidence peddled by Robert Mueller). As for Parkland, isn't it just TOO coincidental for the Parkland Police Video Surveillance system to be "experiencing a 20-minute communications delay " WHILE kids were being shot, and it took 30 minutes for SWAT to enter the School (NYTs)??? Because all the photographic evidence of these Mass Murder Events are a State Secret, nobody knows what the Hell Happened. 9/11, Sandy Hook, Pulse, Mandalay Bay, Parkland, the public needs to be able to watch the video photographic evidence for ourself, BY LAW, before we can start to think we know what occurred in these very Politically Propagandisticaly Useful Events. We need "Free Speech Radio", not a little club telling the public what information & opinions are NOT allowed. We need more free speech, not less. The Listeners of KPFA either "Stand-Up for Free Sheech Radio" NOW, or you might as well just listen to CIA NPR and call yourself "informed".

GUNS & BUTTER has been an EXAMPLE of what news is supposed to be- hard-hitting relevant truthful expose of some of the most important stories of our time-this ACT OF FRAUD against the citizenry in general by the management who have a responsibility of integrity and truthfulness in the news can only mean that KPFA has been SUBJUGATED by NWO PROVOCATEURS whose aim is the DESTRUCTION of WHISTLEBLOWERS and REAL NEWS IN AMERICA, by the SUBVERSION of AMERICA

I listen to G&B every Wednesday on WBAI, NYC, and have listened for years, and learned a lot. Yesterday on WBAI Gary Null defended Bonnie Faulkner, but, as good and important a voice as his is, showed his ignorance of WW2 by advising Bonnie to apologize for having a guest who doubted the 6 million gas chamber hoax. Null apparently has bought the holy hoax without educating himself. Bonnie should not apologize, KPFA should apologize to her for caving in to what Norman Finkelstein (whose father and mother came out of Auschwitz alive) called the "Holocaust Industry", a "giant extortion racket." And Gary Null should educate himself. He can start by reading Tell The Truth and Shame the Devil, by Gerard Menuhin, son of the great American violinist Yehudi Menuhin. Read Breaking the Spell--the Holocaust: Myth and Reality, by Nicholas Kellerstrom. Read 46 Unanswered Questions by David Cole (about Auschwitz). There are many other carefully researched books debunking the hoax. There were no gas chambers. Auschwitz had a maternity ward, hundreds of babies were born there, their mothers given extra scarce rations. Look it up, do some research, Mr. Null. You have repeated this hoax that has deranged the world.

It became apparent to me that for whatever reasons, Bonnie Faulkner chose to increasingly give platforms to Right Wing voices on her show . These people already have plenty of platforms on numerous radio, television and internet podcast shows. Pacifica should remain as one of the few networks for Progressive voices, since there are so few compared to Right wing outlets and they have been successfully blocked from the MSM. I was increasingly becoming disenchanted with her inviting guests that one would normally be promoted on such Radical Right Wing networks such as Jeff Rense or Alex Jones...I have previously witnessed the Right Wing transformation over the last 20 years of their networks and stopped listening to them and visiting their sites as soon as they became platforms for Right Wing Propaganda . it was appearing that Faulkner, for whatever reasons, was taking her show in this direction and that's why I stopped listening to her program....I am glad that this decision was made....I founf guests such as Tarpley,Engdahl and Valentine, to be intelligent, interesting guests...but Bigots should not be given platforms on Pacifica...

What? An ex-MTV VP is a shill for Zionism. No way. How did a clown from MTV even become GM??? Sad sad sad, guns and butter is truly hands down one of the best shows on kpfa. I%u2019ve been listening to Bonnie for well over 10 years and I have been a supporter and listener of KPFA. 2 letters vs listener support and hundreds of thousands of dollars that Bonnie has brought to kpfa? Where is the democratic vote for this decision???

susan - August 24th, 2018 at 10:11am

Thank you Dale for educating me on several other prominent Jewish holocaust denialists mentioned. I had no idea that Gerard Menuhin has now focused his life's work on denying that the holocaust happened. Sounds like Gerard has major emotional issues and he's decided to take his anger at his father to back up those who despise the entire subject of the Holocaust, that Germany targeted Jews in every way during the 30s and 40s resulting in their genocide and mass murder whatever countries Germany could invade and takeover in WWII. How ironic that someone like Gerard would have been shipped off and likely killed at a concentration camp had he lived in Europe during WWII but now has the freedom to deny his father's history. Looks like the Holocaust Denialists have multiplied and are the face of a new anti-Jewish war being waged and used to conquer and divide and confuse investigative journalists like Bonnie Faulkner. How tragic. Gerard is a very sick man.

Have been a supporter and listener of kpfa since the fifties. Yes I am old and. Have lived through a long history. I am upset over the censoring of guns and Butter but realize this is part of the pr sent struggle of free media or non corporate media and the public commons. I have not always agreed with some of the startling views on Guns and Butter however I will support the right of t he people to express unpopular criticisms of u.s. Government policies. If what is presented is libelous or actively violent let the courts decide. Otherwise listen and agree or disagree. Isn't that what democracy is all about. If something is so repugnant it will eventually fade away from lack of notice and participation. I have had an education far beyond my phd infifty years of listening to kpfa. I am truly disappointed in a station that has had my loyalty and gratitude for so many years. Hoping for a reversal of your policy inthis matter. Sincerely Natasha wist.i

I was surprised that they even let you air your last few shows on Jewish power. To anyone who has listened long enough, it's pretty clear that KPFA has basically become a "kibbutz". It's major revenue generating shows are hosted by aging jewish hippies, and their programs present, almost exclusively, the political perspectives of jewish authors, scholars and activists, even on subjects as unrelated to jewish politics as health. When KPFA sponsored guests come to lecture in Berkeley, they often begin to pepper their lectures with Holocaust references and Hannah Arendt quotes (thankfully, Thomas Frank isn't one of them). Given all of this, it's not hard to guess the composition of KPFA's donor base. The truth is that your show was cancelled because your recent guests (Gilad Atzmon, Phillip Gerard, etc.) started to make a lot of sense, and your archives were removed to keep listeners from finding this out once the news of your show's cancellation became public. Personally, I liked your show -- it provided some relief from the usual "bolshevik inspired", Trump dominated bullshit that passes for political commentary in the daytime slots. I even listened to some of the 911 stuff (although I didn't really agree with most of it, it was still interesting to see how people try to reason these things out). It's sad to see this happen, but it's very consistent with the way Berkeley, SF, Marin, etc. have changed in the last 30 years. I really hope that other show hosts on KPFA (Dennis Bernstein, hello?) will "take a stand" and "bang the tribal drum" to get your show re--instated (like Mickey Huff did recently on Project Censored).

Susan - August 26th, 2018 at 3:33pm

So upset to learn about this news. Love the show %u201Cguns and butter.%u201D Count on it for interesting, in depth and different viewpoints. Absolutely outrageous that this happened. What can we do to get the shirt back on the air?

frank scott - August 27th, 2018 at 6:39pm

the cancelation of the program was a disgrace and my comments to the board were angry and contained language i wouldnlt normally use and wont quote here...but...the fact that a few dingbats have been on the show is all the more reason to keep it since dingbats have as much right as anyone else to speak their minds, even if sometimes seeming mindless...as some of the responses to tom russell .. thank you for trying to use logic tom, but it wonlt work for some unfortunates who are members of the master race of self chosen people who think those who hate us must be bought and paid for by ruling members of our master race of self chosen people and canlt possibly hijack planes and kill innocent people in retaliation for the master race of self chosen doing the same to them, but at much greater loss of life...trying to convince such folk using logic is hopeless, but i respect you for trying...as for the dreadful creatures who canceled the show, they make the greatest dingbats-conspirator-truthers seem giants of logic and morality by comparison...we are living in exceptionally trying times when what used to be called left-liberals are operating like nazis without swastikas and when what remains of an actual anti-capitalist left needs to grow but instead seems to be hiding under the bed...hello? come out, wherever we are, please.

Buddy Emmons - August 29th, 2018 at 8:14pm

Same old COINTELPRO tactics. Pacifica will be VOA/NPR in a few more minutes...

Lynn Ertell - September 1st, 2018 at 10:20am

No excuse for KPFA's censorship. But I'm not surprised. It's a graduated "animal farm" for what remains of the faux "left". Hopefully "Guns & Butter" will survive on newer and more honest alternative media outlets.. We need to recover and secure the archives first. And we need to patiently explain to people WHY this censorship is happening at this time. KPFA management would never have dared act in such a precipitous and arbitrary manner, without first being cued and prompted by the current reign of censorship on social media in general, Pacifica is simply following the path laid down by their corporate cousins at youtube, twitter, FB, etc. They have now become "normalized" (and revealed) as "mainstream" media propaganda

Leslie - September 2nd, 2018 at 2:05pm

GUNS and BUTTER was about the only good, fair journalistic show that I heard on KPFA. I used to tune in every Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. to hear the show. I felt that it presented the truth movement in a very tasteful way and there were many good guests to learn from. KPFA is now a carbon copy of CNN as far as their news and views. I have stopped contributing because there is such constant jibberish and BS going out over their airwaves, such that I can't stand to listen any longer. I suppose this (the elimination of Guns and Butter) is just one more nail in their coffin because there is coming a huge red wave of "walk away" democrats and left leaning citizens. Is KPFA also against the airing of the 9-11 anniversary event which is held every year at the Grand Lake? It's one of Bonnie's main events. If that happens, I am going to call in on a show I hate and yell across the airwaves that KPFA is becoming a total fraud and listeners should wake up to that fact!!! So, if you insist on firing Bonnie and her great show, it's Bye Bye KPFA !!

I was already disappointed in KPFA's general failure to speak truth to power on the seminal event of our time, 9/11, before they canceled G and B. Now that the moral cowards running the station have given in to their Zionist masters and canceled its best show, the last nail in the coffin is there. There will be no more financial contributions from me.

Don Wolfe - September 12th, 2018 at 1:49pm

(This was sent to KPFA on August 25, 2018) Re: The Cancellation of "Guns and Butter". Dear KPFA, As an blogger and activist for the rights of men with disabilities, I was deeply disappointed by your decision to cancel "Guns and Butter", obviously one of your best investigative programs. Having worked in the alternative media (Florida Flambeau, KBOO Radio)It is somewhat horrifying to see how so many from the left have adopted a policy of censorship, whenever those positions aren't consistent with the views of the corporate media. I always thought KPFA was different...and welcomed opposing views. Personally, it does seem strange that America dedicates so much time and energy to prisoners of war, who happen to be Jewish. Surely, we know all prisoner fo war camps are brutal, and there certainly many facts that seem worth debating, including the actual number of Jewish victims and whether or not "gas chambers" were used by the Germans? And who actually funded the German army? It seems to me, as one who is part Jewish, open and scientific debate is the only way to answer these questions which being raised about WWII and Israel's true involvement in the crimes of September 11th. Please feel free to share my views, and be sure to check out my blog regarding the use of children with disabilities in mind-control experiments. Thanks, DR Wolfe WolfeOut.com

Noelle - September 14th, 2018 at 11:06am

It's probably better to be a podcast instead of a broadcast these days anyway...embrace the new ways of spreading ideas.

john - September 14th, 2018 at 4:01pm

To the boot lickers above who believe the MSM narrative, YOU are the problem. Bonnie I will still listen, your show rocks. Please have more people on who tell us about Zionism and middle east issues, because that seems to be the thing that got you censored, so you must be touching on the truth.

Charles Spiesel - September 17th, 2018 at 4:17pm

Good riddance. Inviting Kevin Barrett onto a show indicates poor judgement, at best. I have differences with Amy Goodman but sending her show violent threats (as Barrett did) is either unhinged or the actions of a provocateur. I support KPFA's decision.

Kelley Ramsey - September 19th, 2018 at 9:37am

How can we get this show back on the air?? Shame on you KPFA, can't believe you would even go so far as to get rid of archives. Shame, shame shame.

Mehdi - September 20th, 2018 at 6:22pm

Mobilaiz to recall the general manager and who ever involved with such a shameful and non democratic decision. We have all rights as sponsors to request for return of guns and butter asap . Thank you

Lana S. - September 26th, 2018 at 2:45pm

I guess I am late to realize that the program has been pulled off the air... I thought something was wrong with my podcast updates. I have to second the comments above that Bonnie Faulkner is the real jewel of KPFA and that Guns&Butter was my favorite program on KPFA. I do not subscribe to violence and denial, but I DO want to hear different opinions and ideas and decide for myself what to rings true. So incredibly sad and indicative of the overall clamping down on free speech these days.

Dear Ms. Bonnie... So unfortunate that your show was removed. I have been an avid listener for years whether in the US or over seas. Great great journalism!! I will CONTINUE to support the show, and look forward to your next "holocaust denier", "climate change denier" or whoever else has relevant information that you meticulously see to put on the show. Seems to me, this was the excuse needed to continue our countries now short road to full control of media..regardless of what side you identify with politically. Shame on KPFA...

Peter - October 15th, 2018 at 7:59pm

After my nearly 50 years of controlled-left slumber, your interviews with Bollyn finally woke me up. My long-term support of KPFA is over. Please now also help expose the Talpiot program, a la Brendon O'Connell's work.

Jesse - November 6th, 2018 at 9:42pm

I was afraid of this. KPFA has been neoliberalizing ever since they purged Mama O'Shea. So disappointing. I'll be giving my KPFA donation budget to you now. Pacifica is being destroyed from within.

Enrique - November 8th, 2018 at 8:58pm

This is my favourite KPFA's show. This is unacceptable. I'll send an email to complain to KPFA. Is there any other way to download the podcast? Did you rebrand the show? In any case, congratulations for such a great job all these years@

james - November 10th, 2018 at 4:57pm

Guns and Butter and Dennis Bernstein are the best shows on KPFA. They have replaced Guns and Butter with a slow moving NPR ("National Pentagon Radio and National Petroleum Radio) kind of show. Fight for a Free Speech Radio Station at KPFA. Please fight to save Peoples' Park, Berkeley. The UC Regents are the biggest criminals in California. They are the heads of the oil companies and PG&E. The "Daily Cal" had an article last month that says that the university is investing $250 million in a "risky business" that is owned by one of its regents. I met a women walking out of the medical office building on Pill Hill in Oakland 4 years ago She said she retired from the Chancellor's office. She told me: "We (at the Chancellor's office) told Capitol Projects that they would not get the hundreds of millions of dollars to build on the tree-sit site and earthquake-proof the stadium next door but they build and spent the money anyway". Where is KPFA on saving Peoples's Park? Please go to www.peoplespark.org. Please go to the Sunday meetings in People's Park at 1:00 Thanks:

Eric Hilf - December 1st, 2018 at 11:57am

Just heard about the cancellation via unz.com -- used to listen regularly when I lived in the SFBA -- since I no longer do, my attention was more sporadic -- you mean KPFA management is composed of small-minded, hypocritical little shits? -- what a surprise.

doray - December 2nd, 2018 at 7:04am

Just heard about Guns and Butter being purged and gave a donation to G&B immediately. It's SO sad to hear KPFA is a ruse for the Dems. I've been suspect of Amy Goodman for never speaking out about 9-11 being an inside job. The evidence is overwhelming, and for her not to ever even speak of that is journalistic negligence, at the very least. I admire some of the work she does, but her denial of the US pulling off the crime of the century so they could pull of mass invasions of nations to control their resources is unacceptable. Bonnie, you ROCK, and I'll support you wherever you go, and have pulled all support for KPFA and Democracy Now! unless Amy has you on her show with this story.

Rob - December 17th, 2018 at 4:36pm

Wow! I am a little late here but just learned of this. Tragic and misguided decision. I have been a huge supporter of KPFA for decades and listen daily. I will no longer donate to KPFA until this matter is resolved. I always appreciated Guns and Butter. It was one of my favorites and felt way more deep, gritty and authentic than Democracy Now. I too have questioned Amy Goodman and no mention of many controversial topics such as 9-11 being an obvious inside job. Bring back Guns and Butter!

JRGJRG - April 26th, 2019 at 3:21am

I'm hearing a lot of hateful comments here blaming the Jewish people or Zionism for the banning of Bonnie Faulkner, as they always do whenever there's an article about conspiracies. These are traditional scapegoats; it's not them and it's a distraction. It's too bad these commenters don't stop and listen to Bonnie's interviews of Webster Tarpley analyzing the oligarchy which is not Jewish or Zionist but Venetian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhLD1VFM7Xk

Ari - June 24th, 2019 at 12:00pm

Guns & Butter team, The end of this show is a loss to Pacifica listeners. I have ZERO INSIGHT on the 'provocative' content that got the show cancelled, so can't say anything to that. I wish the Pacifica listeners were only informed Left Wingers & educated professors, but we are also rife with questionable zealots and weirdos. Oh well, what can you do...? I've been really into credder.com to identify & separate the crazies from the legit news reporters. I wish there was a way to do similarly with radio & other media. Thanks for your shows!
